4U EVENTS
For a number of years Sharon Poyser dreamed of being her own boss, but her dreams only started to become reality when she embarked on Business Initiative’s business start up course and a HND in Business Information Technology at Staffordshire University.
Sharon knew she wanted to do something creative and set up a Gift and Florist shop where she discovered a talent for creating amazing décor and so far has completed more than 20 Event Dressing Courses.

Allison and Sheila always wanted to turn their hobby into a business, but lacked the necessary confidence and knowledge to leave their previous office work for a self managed venture. Business Initiative’s advice has enabled them to do just that.
Though the company has only been running since May 2006, a number of weddings and contracts have been secured, surely a trend that will progress into the future.

ICONIC IMAGES
Darren has loved photography for years as a hobby, but after leaving his previous job he decided to take his passion a step further and start up his own company, Iconic Images.
Iconic Images provides all aspects of photographic portraiture, photographic art work and a restoration service. Darren is currently in the process of completing an NVQ Business Start-Up level 3, and taking part in the SRB Programme – giving him an opportunity to learn invaluable business skills.

LESLEY MORGAN FURNITURE
Lesley established her furniture making business,
Lesley Morgan Furniture in 2005.
Lesley left a successful career in computer sales to develop her enduring interest in wood, particularly English hardwoods, and found that it is possible to produce unique, special and affordable furniture from relatively small workshops in the UK.
With help from organisations such as Business Initiative, Lesley has managed to establish a thriving manufacturing business with real potential for the future.

MIDAS SCOOTERS
After an accidental meeting at a new year’s eve party, Mick and Craig found that they had a passion in common – a love for scooters. This was the beginning of a wonderful friendship which soon developed into a business partnership.
Business Initiative gave the advice and backing to start up, and after only six months things are looking great!

STEVE THORNHILL
During his 30 years’ painting experience, Steve Thornhill has produced a considerable amount of work, including two pieces for the Victoria & Albert Museum and a commissioned portrait for the Sultan of Oman in 2002. This led to working in Muscat and setting up a training centre.
All his work is completely hand painted, and he paints commissioned private portraits, wildlife studies and landscapes. Business Initiative’s role has been pivotal in his new venture, giving assistance and relevant advice.
